Ken Vandermark – clarinet’s
Håvard Wiik – piano
Ingebrigt Håker Flaten – bass

Free Fall came about as a result of my work with Ken Vandermark in the band School Days. We wanted to establish a ”drum less” group and felt that forming a trio with my good friend and ultra-talented pianist, Håvard Wiik would make for an interesting lineup. The trio immediately became somewhat an homage to the great Jimmy Giuffrie’s trio-work of the late sixties, but we quickly established our own sound and unique approach to work in this chamber unit. Free Fall’s music is based on both free improvisation and written material from all three of us, and it grasps a surprisingly wide dynamic range.  Free Fall just toured Europe (March 2011) and are now working towards a new CD release and another European tour in 2013.  Read more about the group from ken Vanderark’s site here.
