We are kicking off the double tour in Europe with the fabulous Vandermark 5 on Sept 7th in Stockholm. See tour dates for more info. Atomic will first warm up with a gig in Sevilla on the 6th. Check out the review in the Guardian of our latest CD "Theater Tilters 1 & 2"

July: Started of july with some work with IPA (Magnus Broo, Atle Nymo and Haakon Mjaaseth-Johansen). Played at the "landet jazz" and recorded for two days at the amazing Atlantis Studio in Stockholm. New CD from this session will hopefully be released during this fall. IPA also did a gig later in July at the Molde Jazz Festival in Norway. The Konfrontationen festival in Nickelsdorf was a highlight, where I played on July 16th, first in a trio together with Paul Lovens and Agusti Fernandez and later together with The Thing with Terrie Ex, Johannes Bauer, Ken Vandermark and Joe McPhee. The music was strong and to finally be able to play with Paul Lovens was very very inspiring! Paul is an amazing improviser and one of my all time favorite drummers! Just finished up the tour in north america with The Thing with/Joe McPhee, a tour that because of sickness in Mats's family ended up being only a trio-tour together with Joe and Paal. Despite the lack of Mats we had a amazing journey through the midwest to the south ending up in texas, the music was unbelivable and we will rock again in nickelsdorf/austria next weekend, then as the wedding band in Mats's wedding.
Are now prepering for a month in europe starting up with a recording of the new IPA CD in Stockholm before heading down to nickelsdorf for wedding and later the festival. More to come!

Just finnished a stretch of work in europe where I started off in Trondheim/Norway, close to my homevillage, with the debut concert of Ola Kvernberg's new orchestra "Liarbird" at the Trondheim Jazzfestival, a very diverse mixture of musicians created - with Ola's new material written for this particular lineup - a universe which felt truly fresh and unique, Im really looking forward to the follow-up concert at the Molde Jazzfestival in July. After this I flew to St Petersburg with The Thing where we had one gig at the SKIF festival, followed up by 6 gigs aroud in europe with the Dave Rempis Percussion Quartet. It was a total blast!!
