TWO BANDS AND A LEGEND: GREAT BBC REVIEW
The ultimate garage mauling.It's no surprise that Thurston Moore digs these two combos deeply, providing a rabidly enthusiastic sleeve endorsement. Norway's Cato Salsa Experience are indeed nothing of the sort: instead, they rawk with overloaded guitars like mangled girders, compressed into intricate gargoyle gobbets. Their collaboration with Scandinavian free jazz mayhem countrymen The Thing, plus blurting Stateside hornman Joe McPhee results in a beautifully excessive cataclysm, as this Antichrist assemblage contorts tunes by PJ Harvey, James Blood Ulmer and The Cramps, also giving Louie, Louie its ultimate garage mauling. Fast hårdast finner jag den svensknorska trion The Thing. Utökade med den amerikanska saxofonisten Joe McPhee spelar de genomgående akustiska instrument, men precis som många distboxar står sig slätt mot hårdheten och "ondskan" i till exempel Eddie Cochrans (eller Pete Townshends) akustiska gitarrspel trycks intrycket av Zu undan av The Things blotta attack.
En annan energifull höjdare är den norska basisten Ingebrigt Håker Flatens nya kvintett med bland andra amerikanen Jeff Parker (från Tortoise) på gitarr. Konserten börjar med ett standardiserat jazzkomp på bas och trummor - jag kommer osökt att tänka på introt till "C Jam Blues" med Oscar Peterson Trio - innan det utvecklar sig till rena garagejazzen.
Det är ös och driv så att svetten lackar, men också distinkt arrangerad musik med intrikata, ofta unisona inslag i såväl teman som kompfigurer. En internationell grupp i världsklass - och en festival som i sin helhet måste räknas till landets absolut mest betydande. Johannes Cornell

Just back from two weeks of touring scandinaviavia with PNLQuartet and Kjetil Möster Sextet. Paals quartet consisting of Evan Parker, Sten Sandel me and Paal was a thrill from the first to the last gig, fantastic music and great energy! Hopefully our last gig in Oslo will be released on CD so you all can get a chance to experience this.
Kjetil Møster Sextet continued the work from last summer with douing two gigs in norway. This is electro acoustic improvised music on a high level. A very interesting lineup consisting of Anders Hana, Morten Olsen, Kjell Nordesson, Per Zanussi, me and Kjetil creates a variety of sounds that is very special today! A recording from last summers concert in Molde is hopefully gonne be released in the fall.

Ingebrigt Håker Flaten "new" Quintet is established
The new IHFQuintet is now established consisting of: IHF - bass, Ola Kvernberg - violin, Dave Rempis - reeds, Jeff Parker - guitar and Frank Rosaly - drums. The band will do a norwegian tour in March 2007. More info is coming up!

ATOMIC SCHOOL DAYS GO TOGETHER ON DOUBLE CD ON OKKADISK
The two groups got together in Oslo, August 2003 in connection with a concert at the Oslo Jazzfestival. After the show, they recorded a double CD for Okkadisk at the Norwegian Radio Broadcast studio.
