The Cherry Thing

The Thing was originally conceived as a project to record Don Cherry compositions for the Swedish label ”Crazy Wisdom”. While living in Sweden, Cherry made a huge mark in the creative music scene there and being that he was and is still such a dominating influence in our music, it only made sense to pay tribute to him in a sense. When the record was released in 2000 we were honored that Don’s son, Eagle-Eye graciously wrote the liner notes for the album. In late 2010, things came full circle when we began an exciting collaboration with Neneh Cherry, Don’s daughter. Neneh is an amazing singer and a great improvisor, and we’re extremely excited to have just finished our first album together which should be released in March 2012.
