Evan has been a huge inspiration to me ever since I’ve heard him on the records ”Spirit Rejoice” with the Louis Moholo Octet and ”Karyobin” by the Spontaneous Music Ensemble. Both records document the adventurous music scene of 1960’s England; it was movement that totally changed the shape of jazz and improvised music forever. Evan is truly a true master on his instrument and has defined his own saxophone tradition. We played together for the first time in Paal Nilssen-Love’s ”Townhouse Orchestra” in 2002. That particular group released two records and did a few tours. In 2007 I invited Evan to do a duo concert with me for the Oslo Jazzfestival and the recording from that performance was released on the album ”The Brewery Tap”, in 2008.
