Joe and I played together for the first time in 2002 when The Thing invited him to tour and record that year. Since then Joe has worked with us on a regular basis doing several tours and festivals in Europe and the US with The Thing. Joe represents the ultimate improviser to me; always fearless of people’s judgments and dogmas. Now in his early seventies, Joe is still one of the ’youngest’ and most open-minded musicians I can think of and it is an absolute privilege and pleasure to be on stage with him in any setting.

In the last few years Joe and I have recorded several albums together. Our duo record; “Blue Chicago Blues” got rewarded ‘best new releases 2010 – honorable mention’ by All About Jazz – New York, in their ‘best of – 2010’. They also rewarded our performance at The Stone in July 2011 as ‘concerts of the year 2011’ in their ’best of – 2011’.
